Meals & Dining

Snohomish Health provides at least three meals a day, and supplemental snacks are available between meals and at bedtime. We encourage all residents to eat in the dining room, which is designed for a pleasant dining experience.

Meals at Snohomish Health are served in our social dining room. We seek to create healthy menus that accommodate each resident’s particular dietary needs, as prescribed by their physician.

MENUS

We feature several options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, as well as soup and salad and sandwiches to provide residents with a wider variety of meal choices. You can discuss menus with other residents and staff, and we provide details of the week’s meals in advance.

NUTRITION PROGRAM

Our nutrition program provides selective menus featuring fresh and nutritious meals. You will be provided with regular, well-prepared, nutritious meals as ordered by your physician. A consulting Dietitian is contracted by the center to oversee all menus and diets.

DIETARY RESTRICTIONS & MODIFICATIONS

Therapeutic diets and modified diets are provided as ordered by your physician. We work with the medical team to provide special diets for those who need them. We work hard to ensure that even pureed consistency foods tickle the taste buds.

PHYSICIAN PRESCRIBED DIET PLANS

Your physician may prescribe a low sodium or low sugar diet for you. We are required to follow your physician’s diet orders. The Center cannot change your diet without a physician’s order. If you do not like the diet your physician has prescribed for you, we encourage you to talk with your physician.

FOOD PREFERENCES

We seek to create healthy menus that accommodate each resident’s particular dietary needs as prescribed by their physician. If you do not see something on the menu that you would like and your physician agrees that it is something you can eat, we will do our best to accommodate you. There are some items that are not on our menu and that we do not serve. Examples of items we do not serve include: kielbasas, hot dogs, unpasteurized soft cooked eggs or dairy products, cost prohibitive items (such as caviar or lobster), home canned or baked foods.’

GUEST MEALS

Visitors are welcome to join you during meals. Please make arrangements for a guest meal ticket ahead of time and let your guest know the cost of the meal.

OUTSIDE FOOD & DRINK

A resident’s family or visitors can share items the Center does not serve with the resident they are visiting, if that is the resident’s desire. If the resident’s family or visitors brings the resident food that is not prescribed by the resident’s physician and the resident wants to eat that food, then the Center’s staff must be given an opportunity to explain to the resident, prior to eating that food, the risks associated with refusing to follow and the benefits of following the diet prescribed by the resident’s physician.

Please let a staff member know if you are bringing a resident outside food, as it may not follow the resident’s prescribed diet plan. See the section on Keeping Resident Food Safe before bringing food into the Center.
